Hello my amazing Health Warriors!  I hope you have managed to hold your roofs up and keep your driveways cleared with the latest unforgiving dumping of x1, x2, x3 or more, of that white stuff that we have been so blessed with?! 😜  WOWZA!!!  What a couple of weeks it has been!  My kids have officially had 3 days of school since November 29!!  They are definitely celebrating, and so is our dog, Stanley!  Lol!  I cannot even say that they were 3 full days of school, as on Monday, the schools called home to tell parents and guardians that they had to pick up their children early, due to the ice rain we were being graced with!  Bye-bye fall and hello winter eh?!

I am eager to share our next Health Warrior speaker because she will be speaking about a topic that I’m not sure we all think about everyday.  Yet, it has a big impact on the health of our environment around us.  

How we build and live in our homes has a great impact on our health and can be a very silent elephant in the room if you will!  It’s not something that we think of everyday, even though we live in our homes everyday!  Interested to know more?  

Our lovely speaker tomorrow night is Jo-Anne McCarthy, of McCarthy Design Studios.  

Jo-Anne has been beautifying Bracebridge, Muskoka, and around for the past 20 plus years by enhancing her clients’ lives with functional, beautiful and healthy spaces.  She is very successful and accomplishes projects with a focus on contemporary, organic aesthetics including a refined infusion of colour and materials led by her clients goals and dreams.

Jo-Anne’s varied design portfolio began with an education in interior design and includes professional experience in architecture, interior design, and kitchen and bath design.  She is a member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) and has taught the next generation of designers in the Georgian College Kitchen and Bath Design Program.

Having begun her design career in the green building industry, elements of sustainability and healthy interiors are thoughtfully woven throughout her work.  From sustainably sourced materials and low- or zero-VOC finishes to energy efficient solutions, Jo-Anne prioritizes on creating spaces that not only enhance well-being, but also minimize environmental impact.

I’m extremely interested in what Jo-Anne has to talk about with us.  With the building codes of today and the practically airtight homes we are creating in new builds, it’s nice to know that we can make healthier choices in our product purchases.  If we can all take away a wee tidbit of information and spread the word, together, we can create a more competitive green market and increase sustainability and healthy growth in all of our spaces!!

Come on out tomorrow evening and help to make this the biggest Health Warriors group yet!  We have lots to keep learning here my warrior friends!  Personally, I just can’t stop!  The more I learn, the more I want to know! 

We have been very blessed thus far with some truly amazing professionals who are out there making people feel better, one body at a time! They offer some excellent modalities and services and are out there doing amazing things!  Praise God, hallelujah!  πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

I will leave you with a healthy recipe to add to your kitchen!  I’m not crazy about the name of the website, but I absolutely LOVE her recipes!!  All I do is make sure that the ingredients are organic or locally sourced.  

One more thing, is that I am typically heavy on the garlic, ginger, and turmeric, whenever it’s called for!  

Check out this yummy chicken tortilla soup recipe that you can add extra fresh cilantro to and make it more Christmasy looking with the tomato base!Β  You can easily leave out the chicken for more of a vegan meal.
